Fillers are used to literally fill the hollows and deep lines of the face and hands. As we age, we lose fullness in our face and hands, which makes us look older and gives us those deep smile lines, marionette lines (the lines going down from the corners of the mouth), undereye hollowing, and aged hands. Fillers simply restore lost volume. They are also great for enhancing the shape and size of lips (lip augmentation).
There are quite a few fillers available today, which makes choosing the right filler sometimes seem confusing. Dr. Kavali currently offers Restylane®, Perlane®, Radiesse®, Juvederm®, Prevelle Silk®, and Sculptra®.
These products, which vary in composition, are all used to fill and smooth out wrinkles or depressions in the face. They are all done in the office with just a bit of local anesthesia to ensure your full comfort.
Healthy skin contains hyaluronic acid, which helps keep it supple and young looking. Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar found in all living cells that helps maintain skin volume by attracting and binding over 1000 times its weight in water. But over time, the hyaluronic acid in your skin decreases, your skin loses volume, and lines and wrinkles appear.
Restylane®, Perlane®, or Juvederm® are all made of hyaluronic acid and can temporarily restore facial volume and diminish lines. They each last 9-12 months, on average. Many people find that doing a “touchup” session a few months after the original filling session can make the overall results last as long as 15-18 months.
Restylane®, Perlane®, or Juvederm® Treatments work instantly, and you can resume normal activities immediately.
Radiesse® is a calcium hydroxyapatitev filler. It is used for deeper lines and hollows in the face and hands. It stimulates your body to create new collagen, so it tends to last longer than the hyaluronic acid fillers (Restylane®, Juvederm®, Perlane®). Radiesse® lasts about 18 months.
Sculptra® is injectable poly-L-lactic acid. Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) is biocompatible (it doesn’t harm the body) and biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body). The effects of Sculptra® are long-lasting. The results from Sculptra® are not immediate; Sculptra® provides a gradual increase in skin thickness. Dr. Kavali will see you again about 6 weeks after your initial treatment to help you decide if additional treatment is needed. In most cases, at least two treatments are necessary. Touch-up treatments every two years may be needed to maintain your results. Generally, results can last 2-5 years.
Prevelle Silk® is a hyaluronic acid filler which comes pre-mixed with numbing medicine. The benefit of Prevelle Silk® is that it rarely causes any bruising and has only minimal swelling after treatment, so it’s a good choice if you have an important social event shortly after your treatment. Prevelle Silk® lasts about 3 months.
You can treat any of the following with one or more of the fillers we offer:
The cost of fillers varies depending on which one you choose and how much of that one you’ll need for full results. You can expect one syringe of filler to cost between $300-550. We do have occasional special events in our office with promotional pricing on fillers. You can get advance notice of our events by signing up for our email list: Join our list
